Hiroshima Remembrance Day: Author Cecile Pineda, Potluck, and Lantern Ceremony

Sunday, August 5

Potluck Community Dinner: 5:30pm at First Churches, Northampton (129 Main Street)

Author’s Talk and Book Signing: 7pm (also at First Churches)

Lantern Ceremony: 8pm at Paradise Pond, Smith College

Open to folks everywhere in Western Massachusetts, a free community dinner was held at First Churches in Northampton. We heard from award-winning author Cecile Pineda, author of “Devil’s Tango: How I Learned the Fukushima Step by Step”.

We later reconvened at Paradise Pond at Smith College for a lantern floating ceremony to remember the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki 67 years ago, as we collectively resolved to end the scourge of nuclear war and nuclear power.
