A national vigil was called by MoveOn.org and other organizations, and AFSC hosted one in Northampton. We held a vigil outside of the Courthouse in order to demonstrate our opposition to an attack upon Syria. We could not afford a new war, and we did not WANT a new war. We needed to demonstrate the overwhelming sentiment that the people of the U.S. DO NOT WANT ANOTHER WAR!
The President, fearing a “no” vote in the Senate on Wednesday, took to the air Tuesday night to make his case for war. Monday night was OUR night to say “NO MORE!”
AFSC provided some signs and candles – but people were welcome to bring your own!
