Northampton Joined National Response to Ferguson Grand Jury
TUESDAY AT 5:30PM, NORTHAMPTON CITY HALL
Tuesday, November 25 following Monday’s announcement regarding grand jury inquiry into Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson’s shooting of Michael Brown is made, a demonstration in solidarity with the people of Ferguson and in opposition to the ways in which racism informs policing and the criminal justice system, took place on the steps of City Hall in Northampton. This demonstration joined others coordinated with the Ferguson National Response Network (with listings at http://fergusonresponse.tumblr.com/), in which people all across the country came together to witness this decision. Concerned people were invited to come to Northampton with signs and voices. We wished to make this event open to adults and children, despite the violent nature of the issue of racism and police brutality. A preliminary line-up of speakers, consisting of community leaders, was been invited, and there will be an opportunity for others to speak.
